PSG Edges Olympique de Marseille in a Shootout to Claim Trophee des Champions Season-Opening Trophy in the Middle East.

PSG players celebrating

PSG has now claimed the prestigious cup on fourteen separate occasions.

The Parisian giants required a dramatic leveler followed by a perfect spot-kick decider to get past their arch-rivals in Kuwait and capture a record-extending fourth consecutive French Super Cup title.

The Champions League holders seemed to be sailing towards a comfortable triumph in the showdown featuring the French league winners and the Coupe de France holders after Ousmane Dembele found the net early on.

However, the southern French side fired twice in the closing moments to seize a surprise lead. First, the English forward converted from the spot-kick, before the defender unfortunately directed the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a breathtaking turn of events, the Portuguese striker grabbed a crucial leveler in the final moments to send the match into a deciding shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Chevalier then stood as the hero, saving crucial attempts from Matt O'Riley and Traore.

In the shootout, Ramos, Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, and Desire Doue all scored successfully for Paris Saint-Germain to seal a convincing shootout victory.

The record winners Paris Saint-Germain, who met last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Olympique de Marseille after completing a domestic double, have now lifted this trophy for the 12th time in the last 13 years.
